In simple terms Genesis Steel Ltd is a privately owned Steel Stockholding business.
We specialise in the sourcing and supply of steel sheet and plate. The customer base is mostly in the UK and Ireland.
Wherever possible our stock material is sourced from within the EU. The company have long established contacts with first class steel mills in Europe as well as trusted partners within the European steel stockholding fraternity.
The aim of the business is to supply our products on time, at the right price and in doing so meet or exceed customers’ expectations. From time to time every business encounters the odd problem or hurdle to jump and we do not pretend to be exempt from such situations. The important thing is how you react to any such eventualities. We believe in honesty and transparency, where the customer is always put first.

At the Donnell & Ellis site in Omagh, Co Tyrone the stock range completely complements the needs of the local companies. The majority of stock being hot rolled strip material with a smaller complimentary range of reversing mill plate. Another popular product for the Irish market is the range of 400HB Wear Resistant steel plates that we stock from 6mm to 30mm in thickness. As the site in Omagh is centrally placed in the industrial heartland same day collections are normally available.
Company History
Genesis Steel Ltd (then Kerf Steel Ltd} started trading in July 2015. The business was formed as a collaboration between Phil Daniels former Founder of Eterniti Steels Ltd and Dan Taylor, owner of Kerf Developments Ltd.
The synergy between the two individuals was immediately evident. Phil has many years specialising in the sale of steel sheet and plate, whereas Dan has a live customer base of companies who have purchased profile and plasma cutting machines. The way forward was staring them in the face.
Initially the newly formed company traded sheet and plate mostly into the Irish market. As demand for the products grew a decision was taken to put some sustainable stock down to satisfy customer expectations. This material was stored at a local haulage yard and this storing facilitated the growing of the business. A few months later a deal was agreed with Donnell & Ellis Heavy Haulage Ltd in Omagh, to store material under cover at their premises.
After a relatively short time it became apparent that for the business to continue to meet customer requirements additional staff would be required and ultimately the securing of its own storage facility in England. Once the current site in St. Helens had been secured all existing stock was transferred and the foundation was laid for the company to grow.
Almost two years on from the move to St. Helens things have certainly changed somewhat. we now have 12 full time staff and 2 of our own 32 ton rigid lorries and a part time accountant. When the company was founded it was always the intention at some point down the line for Dan Taylor to move aside and facilitate a manage buy-out of the business. This process was completed in October 2018 and as part of that agreement we became Genesis Steel Ltd from the 1st January 2019.
